I’m a Brooklyn-based mixed media artist who became disabled after a first-wave Covid infection. I turned to art to cope with my illness as my health issues multiplied, leaving me mostly bedbound. My work encapsulates themes of pain, alienation, and yearning for the world which has been taken from me. I aim to acquaint the viewer with the unsettling, enveloping nature of illness through a variety of media including watercolor, gouache, ink, and fiber arts.
I am inspired by the work of Frieda Kahlo, Max Ernst, and Roland Penrose. My art vacillates between Surrealist explorations of illness and landscapes where I seek to expand my experience of the world beyond my bed.
